The Rolex Submariner Red is one of those watches that needs little introduction among vintage Rolex enthusiasts. That single line of red text, the no-nonsense tool-watch look and the unmistakable vintage charm have made it a firm favourite with collectors. But beyond its status, we simply love the way these watches look and feel. They have a presence that is hard to replicate.

Finding really nice vintage examples is becoming increasingly challenging, which makes the condition and character of an individual watch all the more important. And this one has plenty going for it.

At hand is a Submariner with a Mk4 dial, featuring crisp red text and lovely cream-toned lume plots. The hands have aged beautifully alongside the hour markers, giving the dial a warm, harmonious look without losing its crisp character.

The case is strong, with even lugs and well-defined crown guards. Then there is the fat-font bezel insert, which has faded to a beautiful blue hue. We have always had a soft spot for these naturally aged inserts; they bring just the right amount of personality to an otherwise serious tool watch.

The watch is fitted with a solid Oyster bracelet, ref. 93150, in nice condition, complete with 580 end links and a clasp stamped VC.

The watch and its movement have been fully serviced by our watchmaker and are ready for many more years of wrist time.

Vintage Rolex is at the heart of what we do at Bulang & Sons, and the Red Sub is a perfect example of why we love this world. The Red Sub needs no introduction. Crisp red text, warm cream lume and a beautifully faded blue insert. The details make the watch — and this one gets them right, get in touch if this one is talking to you !
